Adele Diamond | Virginia Beach

Client Profile

Adele Diamond is a well-established jewelry store in Lynnhaven Mall. As a staple business in the community, their space and jewelry are known for being cutting-edge, modern, and elegant. In 2022, their storefront no longer reflected their brand’s style and something had to change.

The Challenge

Adele Diamond decided to seek out a contractor because their storefront had a dated look. It was dark, uninviting, and didn’t have proper lighting or display cases to showcase their products. Because their space is in the mall, they knew they’d have to find a contractor who could modernize the space while following the mall’s construction guidelines.

Searching for a Contractor

With these needs in mind, Adele Diamond began the search for the right contractor. They settled on Carlton Building Services thanks to their ability to communicate effectively and capture Adele’s brand with the build-out. Carlton Building Service also works repeatedly with the Lynnhaven Mall, making them a pro at following the mall’s construction guidelines.

Construction in the mall

One of the biggest challenges in a mall is enclosing the workspace so mall shoppers can’t get in, but keeping quiet during certain hours in order to not disturb shoppers. Keeping mall shoppers happy and getting the work done on time is a delicate balance. Luckily, Carlton Building Services has cultivated a healthy relationship with the mall to make sure the work can be performed in a timely, efficient manner without disrupting mall activities.

Dealing with Delays

Adele Diamond hoped to open their shop before Thanksgiving. While Carlton Building Services prides ourselves on getting jobs done on time, it sometimes isn’t possible because of all the moving parts. A subcontractor pulled out right before Thanksgiving–pushing back the project deadline. Thanks to our connections within the local construction industry, we were able to find someone else to finish the project before the end of the year. The cabinets from China came two days before they grand re-opening. To get Adele Diamond’s updated storefront open before Christmas, their team put those cabinets in the night before.

Building a Transformative Space

After finishing the project before the holiday season, despite delays, and navigating the mall’s construction policies, Adele Diamond was able to open their new storefront. This wasn’t their first build-out, but it was the most transformative. The build-out made the space an inviting, luxurious jewelry store rooted in the 21st century.
