Bay Lake Retirement Community is a luxurious facility with independent living, assisted living, and memory care options. Their community offers exceptional rooms, access to sunny Virginia Beach weather, best-in-class services, and organized activities for residents. 

The Challenge

Bay Lake has been an established assisted and independent living and memory care community for over 25 years. While they’ve done a stellar job maintaining their facilities, wear and tear are inevitable, especially to their residents’ rooms. The community had to renovate rooms, but couldn’t afford to shut down for community-wide remodeling. 

Searching for a contractor

The room renovations had to take place slowly, only completing 10-15 rooms at a time. Bay Lake Retirement Community turned to Carlton Building Services because they knew we could handle a fragmented, multi-year project with many moving parts. 

A Fragmented Remodel

When projects take place over several years, coordinating the moving parts becomes more difficult. Yet our team navigated the coordination with ease. We were even able to maintain a consistent look in the renovated units, using the same products and styling each year. 

Build Hype

While the entire project took years, individual rooms had to be transformed quickly. We renovated each in one to two weeks. The fast turnaround created hype around the renovated rooms, driving interest in moving into a newly refurbished unit.

Disruptions Avoided

During the one to two weeks we worked on a unit, there was minimal disruption for other residents. Our team is trained to respect the space and residents, and many who came into contact with our team commented on how they were friendly faces in the facility. Renovating 10-15 units each year for multiple years could have created noise and disruption, but our team managed to keep disruption minimal.
