Life is ruff for dogs when their owners go on vacation unless they stay at Ruff House. Ruff House Stay and Play is the premier daycare and overnight accommodation for furry friends. The dogs in their care enjoy group play sessions, one-on-one playtime with the staff, and pawtastic treatment.

The Challenge

Originally, Ruff House sought an appraisal from a construction expert about a specific section of their building. They were unsure if it had been constructed properly and wanted an expert opinion to determine if repairs were required to ensure the longevity of their building.

Searching for a contractor

Ruff House needed a contractor they could trust, not someone who would add extra jobs to the scope so they could get paid more or say the structure was fine when it wasn’t. Fortunately, they called Carlton Building Services for the appraisal, thanks to our transparency and clear communication.

An Honest Look

After careful analysis, our team determined the building wasn’t up to code. So many renovations were required, it was a wonder the building was still standing. To ensure the renovations were done correctly and at a time of year when business was slower for Ruff House, we spent a year and a half planning the project.

Changing Seasons

Ruff House is a seasonal business, with many of their furry residents staying during vacation seasons like summer or spring break. To best serve their customers, Ruff House was cognizant of getting the project done quickly and out-of-season. As part of our usual process, we provide a weekly schedule for all projects. One week, Ruff House was concerned that we wouldn’t finish in time based on the schedule and approached our team about it. We were able to adjust the schedule and finish on time and budget.

Pulled Apart

As part of this process, we had to pull apart many structures and put them back together. Some of those structures, such as the gate system, were custom and had many small parts. Our team and skilled subcontractors pulled apart the gate and other structures board by board, before rebuilding them to be stronger than before.
