Centerville Commerce Park | Virginia Beach

Client profile

Known as one of the best cleaning services in Virginia Beach, Two Maids and a Mop has a reputation to uphold. Their team cleans customers’ homes and offices until they are spotless, but a year and a half ago, their own space required more than a deep cleaning, and it required collaborating with their landlord, Centerville Commerce Park.

The Challenge

Two Maids and a Mop have an office unit within a larger complex. As part of a larger renovation for them, we applied for multiple permits All permits were approved, except the plumbing permit due to an undersized water meter. To get the plumbing permit, the meter had to be pulled out and replaced with a bigger model.

But Two Maids and a Mop didn’t own the water meter. Instead, the condo complex owned it and would be responsible for fixing it. Because of Carlton Building Services’ past work, both in this specific complex and in the Virginia Beach area, the condo complex owner reached out to us to replace the water meter.

A Need for Speed

Two Maids and a Mop utilized a small business loan to complete the project. At the time of the permit snafu, the loan was close to expiring, increasing the urgency to get the water meter swapped. The only problem? We needed another permit to replace the water meter. Our team worked with the complex owner and the city government to get that permit approved at the eleventh hour.

Replacing the Meter

But the permit approval isn’t the end of the story. Next, our team had to coordinate with the condo complex owner to replace the water meter. We aimed to complete the project quickly and with minimal disruption to the businesses in the complex. Our team also had to coordinate with the city to successfully replace the water meter.

Construction As Usual

Once the water meter had been replaced, we reapplied for the plumbing permit and continued work on Two Maids and a Mop’s office renovation. With most contractors, the water meter would have been the end of the road. Two Maid’s business loan would have expired without the project being completed. Luckily, they chose a contractor committed to the process, no matter how many hurdles or side projects came up.
